Wurtulla

Alan Bennett is, without a doubt, one of the finest playwrights to come out of Britain post war. His series called Talking Heads has been described as “his finest achievement- indeed masterpiece wouldn’t be too strong a word”.

Originally filmed for BBC television with actors of such calibre as Julie Walters, Thora Hird, Patricia Routledge and Maggie Smith, the series of 12 plays is widely regarded as a modern classic.

As part of the Caloundra Chorale’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, two of these plays , A Lady of Letters and Her Big Chance, will be a component of our March production. Add to this an amusing musical interlude and you have a winning show.

Just four women are involved here. Maria Lindsay will play Miss Ruddock, a middle aged busybody whose interest in the neighbours lands her in trouble with the law. Helen Duffy is a wannabe actress who longs to be in mainstream cinema but finds herself involved in something a little more sinister. Helen Butcher and Amanda Zinn, accompanied by the multi talented Neil Booth on piano, will amuse with an eclectic selection of songs. Take 4 women, 3 acts, 2 plays and they will add up to 1 amazing night of quality entertainment.

Book now for an unforgettable night. The show will open with a preview night on March 4thAT 7.30 pm with additional 7.30pm performances on 6th and 13th, and matinees on 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th at 2pm. Tickets : $25 Adults, Concession $24 members/FOC/Groups $22 Bookings via Annette on 0490 329 912.
