Band Leader Rick Best’s “Sweet Thunder” (named from the classic Ellington/Strayhorn album “Such Sweet Thunder”) draws heavily on music from the great swing band era and the theme for this event is “Battle Royale” – the Duke meets the Count. The band line-up of this 13-piece orchestra features 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, 4 saxes plus piano, bass, drums and vocals.
