FREE TYPE 2 DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
Are you at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and looking for some support to make healthier lifestyle changes?
Small Steps for Big Changes (SSBC) Australia is a free six-week diabetes prevention program supporting adults to make small, sustainable changes to their physical activity and eating habits.
The program is being delivered across participating sites in South-East Queensland as part of research being conducted by The University of Queensland. By taking part, participants can access the program at no cost while also helping researchers learn more about how diabetes prevention programs can be delivered effectively in the community.
Over six sessions, participants work with trained health coaches to:
- Set realistic, personalised health goals
- Build physical activity into everyday life
- Explore practical healthy eating strategies
- Develop confidence to make lasting lifestyle changes
The program is designed around the idea that you don’t need to change everything at once. Small, achievable changes can add up over time and help support your health and reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
SSBC is currently recruiting participants across participating sites in South-East Queensland, including Bowen Hills, Caloundra, Logan, Victoria Point and Warwick. You may be eligible if you have been identified as having an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, including having a high AUSDRISK score or prediabetes.
